Evelyne Dominault
Evelyne Dominault is a French artist born in Fontainebleau in 1967. She has exhibited widely in France and Europe both in solo and group exhibitions since 1995.
Evelyne’s work has evolved out of a love of primitive art. She works her ideas out on canvases, producing abstract textured pieces, which though appearing simple and open at first glance, are in fact made up of complex layers of various media at times including cement and pigment – a reflection of her thought processes. These canvases with their use of a variety of materials evoke a sense of something basic and evolving and allow the viewer to bring their own response to the work. About seven years ago she started incorporating calligraphy into her work. Writing from all manner of civilisations has always fascinated Evelyne: in her own words “I write from right to left to keep the act instinctive, my calligraphy speaks directly to the unconscious, it can mean nothing and everything…..”
